We are growing

Here we are again! Another day older. See how we have grown? We used to fit inside an egg like the one next to us 6 days ago. Yes!

We still keep warm under mommy with our wings and feet sticking out from under her! Where else would we go?

Except to peek out from under mommy as she is being fed and hope to get fed too! Can you see my little beak open and ready for some food too?

Days 4 and 5 complete and still alive!

We need to put our heads together and work out a plan!

First of all let me show off our 2 little kids!Here they are at 4 and 5 days old! Can you believe it?Mommy and baby taking a nap. Mommy gets worn out! She needs some sleep too!

Leaning on each other!

Here we are! Resting on each other. Tonight we are a full 3 and 4 days old! Just a day apart. With each day we become bigger and stronger. But the third one of us has not yet hatched. Our mommy keeps all three of us warm though and occasionally gets up to stretch so we find support in each other!







There are times when we get to lie beside mommy or snuggled up against her! These times are only very brief though and then we are tucked away again underneath, in the warmth of her body! We are growing but tiny enough yet to fit underneath. How many more days we can do this we will find out. In the mean time what more can we ask for?

Who is keeping who warm

First thing this morning I sat down by the cage wondering if there were still little babies alive in there. Peeking under the cover that doesn't cover the cage completely I saw some little eyes looking up at me! So who is it that is keeping the other one warm? It appears that the female "my girl" has her wing covering the male "sunshine". No wait! There are 2 babies and 1 egg yet under the 2 of them there somewhere that they are keeping warm.

The babies are 4 and 3 days old today and are growing! Little legs moving up against mommy!Chirping to get attention for food.

Sunday morning, sitting down beside the cage and listening for

any sign of movement and chirping. Slowly taking the cover

off the cage I start checking out everything. The daddy was

there on a perch above. And mommy was still sitting in the

same place. Looking closer and listening I heard a chirping!

Amazing! The 2 babies are still alive and still waiting to

see if the last egg will hatch. It really is a moment by

moment watching and waiting to see what will happen!

First babies

Could it actually be? The sound was not coming from the tv nor the computer. It was coming from the bird cage sitting next to me! I looked down at the possible parents to be. (The mommy being the blue one and the daddy the yellow.) On April 23rd late in the evening I heard some soft chirping.

She had laid on 3 eggs at this point for a few weeks, the first egg was for 20 days already. Patiently waiting for the opportunity, I was finally given one and sure enough! There was the first egg hatched. A tiny little brownish spot showed under "mommy" . Mommy taking care of her baby.

Then there was the real opportunity. Get the camera quick! A full view of baby with the other eggs for picture taking the morning after hatching!

After the picture taking was done and late afternoon rolled around, another bird hatched. Time will tell for the last egg weather it will hatch or not.

It really is so very interesting, is it not? To watch nature, the "mommy" take care of her little ones! The male feeds her and in turn she feeds her babies. She is attentive to their chirping and has not left them for for long.
